SCF Group has won a fixture for a suezmax that pulled the tanker segment’s spot rates sharply higher on the benchmark route out of West Africa.

Petrogal is said to be paying the Russian shipowner, also known as Sovomflot, WS 117.5 to carry a cargo on either the 159,000-dwt SCF Altai (built 2001) or 159,000-dwt SCF Ural (built 2002).

The charterer, an arm of Portuguese energy giant Galp Energia, is moving the crude from Angola to Portugal.
