Sovcomflot has denied media reports that Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) had been chosen as the preferred bidder to build 12 new tankers.
Korean reports cited HHI sources as saying it had been chosen in August for the $660m contract.
HHI is currently negotiating details of the contract, they added.
But an SCF spokesman told TradeWinds HHI has not been selected.
The vessels will be used to export Russian oil overseas.
