Sovcomflot’s new specialised ice-class shuttle tanker Shturman Albanov has loaded its first cargo after navigating the Northern Sea Route (NSR).

The Russian owner said the 42,000-dwt Arc7 ship, delivered from Samsung Heavy Industries in August, lifted 34,000 tonnes of crude from Gazprom-Neft’s Novoportovskoye oil and gas-condensate field on the Yamal Peninsula.

The oil was due to be shipped to the 300,259-dwt floating storage vessel Umba (built 2001) in Murmansk.
