The Moscow Times has reported that a 15-strong Libyan tanker fleet could soon be under Russian ownership.
Libya’s General National Maritime Transportation Company (GNMTC) could sell a portion of its fleet to unspecified Russian investors that include state-owned shipping corporation Sovcomflot, the newspaper reports.
A spokesman for Sovcomflot in London refused to comment on the rumour.
Included in the Russian article is a reference to Wikileaks which has carried a US embassy cable identifying Colonel Gadhafi’s son Hannibal as being linked to the tanker company.
