South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries has delivered one of two ice-class aframax shuttle tankers that Russian shipowner Sovcomflot ordered three years ago at $79m each.
Shipbuilding observers were surprised that Sovcomflot was able to take delivery of the vessel after South Korea imposed sanctions on several Russian banks and their affiliates in early March following the invasion of Ukraine.
