Figures from shipowners’ organisation Bimco have revealed a big switch in tanker trading patterns as China buys more Russian crude.
Based on tonne-mile analysis of vessels, imports into China have jumped 94% year-on-year since the Ukraine invasion in February, as European buyers stay away from Russian oil.
Bimco said this compares to a rise of 9% before the war started.
