More product tankers have been sent for recycling so far this year than at any point since 2010, according to UK shipbroker Simpson Spence Young (SSY).
And the average age of vessels being sent to breakers is getting lower.
The UK shop said activity has been "strong" compared with last year, with 51 clean tankers of 2.4m dwt recycled to the end of October.
