Spot rates for MR product tankers leapt on the US Gulf Coast and Caribbean on Tuesday as a hurricane of historic proportions made its way through the region.
The Baltic Exchange’s assessment of rates for MRs carrying clean products from Houston in Texas to Pozos Colorados on Colombia’s Caribbean coast gained more than 28% in a single day, reaching a time charter equivalent of $53,600 per day.
