Spot rates for MR product tankers leapt on the US Gulf Coast and Caribbean on Tuesday as a hurricane of historic proportions made its way through the region.
The Baltic Exchange’s assessment of MR rates for ships carrying clean products from Houston to Pozos Colorados on Colombia’s Caribbean coast gained more than 28% in a single day, reaching a time-charter equivalent of $53,600 per day.
