Iran and China are reportedly nearing a trade deal, including regular discounted oil shipments.
The agreement would see China grow its presence in Iran's banking and ports sectors, while Iran would provide cheap oil in return, according to a weekend report in The New York Times based on an 18-page proposal it obtained outlining the deal.
Iran's economy is reeling from the impacts of heavy US sanctions and the Covid-19 outbreak.
