Any formal US ban on Russian oil imports will have a “fairly limited” effect on the tanker market in the short term, shipbroker Poten & Partner believes.
Erik Broekhuizen, the company’s manager of marine research and consulting, said there is already what effectively amounts to a ban on Russian crude and products.
“Given the uncertain and constantly changing situation around sanctions, buyers are very reluctant to commit to Russian crude,” he said.
