US shipbroker Poten & Partners believes the tanker sector may be better placed to survive a global recession than it was during other recent slumps.
Research and consulting manager Erik Broekhuizen has been analysing five recessions since 1990, which show very different impacts on tanker demand.
But previous downturns also saw tankers continue to be delivered from bulging orderbooks, adding stress to the supply/demand balance.
