After some four years of waiting, New York-listed Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) is finally nearing a chance to move three of its tankers into a new US-flag Tanker Security Program later this year.
While speaking during an earnings conference call on Wednesday, OSG chief executive Sam Norton tipped the likely establishment of the programme within 2022.
That would allow the 51,700-dwt Overseas Mykonos and Overseas Santorini (both built 2010) – two tankers currently operating under the US Maritime Security Program – to transfer into the fledgling scheme with enhanced US government subsidies, Norton said.
