National Iranian Tanker Co (NITC) will buy or order up to 25 modern tankers to replace ageing vessels.
This is the claim from its managing director Ali-Akbar Safaei, cited by the oil ministry’s Shana news service.
The tankers will have a total capacity of 6m tonnes.
The company has a fleet capacity of 15.5m tonnes currently, of which 95% is being used, according to Bloomberg.
