The US has blacklisted nine VLCCs in its latest round of sanctions targeting the tanker fleet hauling Iranian crude.
The Treasury said the vessels frequently used deceptive practices that posed dangers to the maritime industry while they hauled oil worth billions of dollars for the Iranian regime.
The measures also targeted ship managers and owners based in Greece, the Seychelles, Suriname and Hong Kong for alleged involvement in the Iranian oil trade.
