Nigeria will finally release a Swiss-flagged tanker detained amid fuel smuggling allegations in January 2018.
The Swiss foreign ministry said in a statement that it has signed an agreement with Nigeria's justice ministry to immediately release ABC Maritime's 7,600-dwt San Padre Pio (built 2002).
The tanker was detained in January 2018 in Nigeria's exclusive economic zone, accused by the Nigerian navy of entering its territorial waters to engage in illicit ship-to-ship transfers of gasoil.
