Oil major Shell is shutting down a major Nigerian offshore oil field for maintenance for one month, which will cut tanker liftings in half.
The Bonga field produces about 200,000 barrels per day of oil, accounting for a little under 10% of Nigeria's capacity. Oil from the field is delivered to the Shell-owned Bonga FPSO for loading to tankers.
Local media say crude oil liftings from the Bonga FPSO will drop to three next month, compared to seven in January.
