VLCC rates are climbing this week as charterers to push out the final cargo requirements for March liftings.
The Onassis group’s Olympic Shipping earned a WorldScale (WS) 64 rate today for a ride from the Middle East to South Korea, according to Tankers International. Refiner GS Caltex hired the Greek shipowner’s 307,000-dwt Olympic Leader (built 2005) for the journey.
The fixture represents a sizeable rise since the WS 59 earned on a similar journey yesterday and WS 57.5
