Metrostar Management of Greece is to return to the suezmax tanker segment after exiting the business a decade ago.
The Theodore Angelopoulos-led shipowner has signed up to an order for half a dozen 158,000-dwt crude carrier newbuildings at China’s New Times Shipbuilding.
The deal is for two firm vessels, plus two options each for a pair of tankers.
Shipbuilding players said Metrostar has ordered scrubber-fitted suezmaxes and is paying about $56.5m
