Meiji Shipping has returned to Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) for more MR newbuildings as part of the latest tranche of ordering for Shell’s Project Solar.
Industry sources said the Japanese owner has signed a contract with the South Korean yard for up to six 50,000-dwt product tankers for delivery dates starting in late 2020.
The deal involves four firm vessels, built to IMO type 3 chemical handling standards, plus two options.
