Shipowners have been queuing up to book new tonnage to meetrising demand, with very large gas carriers (VLGCs) proving particularly popular, according to Italianbroker Banchero Costa.
So far this year orders for 51 gas carriers larger than 1000cubic metres (cbm) have been logged, up 62% on the 32 units booked in the first 7 months of2012.
But with the appetite for VLGCs provingstrongest, in pure capacity terms this represents a rise to 2.24
