A shortage of ice-class tankers is set to create some problems for Russia as it looks to maintain its oil exports after European Union sanctions kick in on 5 December.
BRS Group said Russia may turn to ship-to-ship transfers to leverage its current ice class tanker fleet or simply route more oil through warmer Black Sea ports to keep its cargo moving on the high seas — neither of which would keep exports at their current levels.
