Norwegian shipbuilder Vard has unveiled a new project involving Knutsen Tankers to identify a suitable nuclear reactor to power ships.
The Nuclear Propulsion in Shipping (NuProShip) programme also involves the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Alesund and class society DNV.
Vard said the “groundbreaking” project has been undertaking extensive assessments of 99 companies developing advanced reactor technologies.
