A joint venture between traders Mitsubishi and Mitsui (MIMI)had planned to buy 1.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) from Browse, however the deal was conditional on a final investment decision(FID) being taken by 31 December.
That possibility was scuppered last year when theproject’s sponsors shelved plans for an onshore plant in favour of building afloating liquefaction facility (FLNG) which would take much longer to develop.
