An Iranian VLCC had a lucky escape on Thursday afternoon after coming under grenade fire from pirates in the Somali Basin, TradeWinds has learned.



The attack on the 317,400-dwt Hadi (built 2007) comes over a year after the Iranian Navy stepped in to save it from another assault in the Gulf of Aden.

There are no reports of any damage to the Cyprus-flagged tanker desite it coming under rocket-propelled grenade fire some 850 or 900 miles east of the Horn of Africa.
