The Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) has stressed that it has no links to Russian-owned ships.
TradeWinds reported in mid-June that around 70 Sovcomflot tankers were transferred over to the Mumbai-based classification society.
The class transfers — which have been listed on the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) website — were made shortly after UK, US and European Union sanctions against Russian commercial entities.
