India’s demolition yards are reportedly poised to return to operation this week, despite an extension to the national lockdown, according to several prominent cash buyers.

“Indian yards are preparing safety measures for gradual opening this week,” cash buyer GMS confirmed in a social media post this week.

One demolition market source told TradeWinds that Indian authorities have agreed that any yard wanting to start working on the vessels must make a written application to the Ship Recycling Industries Association.
