India's navy is sending two warships to the Gulf of Oman to protect its shipping following tanker attacks in the Strait of Hormuz.
CNN cited a navy statement as saying guided-missile destroyer INS Chennai and patrol vessel INS Sunayna "have been deployed in the Gulf of Oman and Persian Gulf to undertake maritime security operations."
Surveillance aircraft are also being sent to the region as part of Operation Sankalp.
