IMC Holdings ship suffers benzene spill

An IMC Holdings vessel has suffered a benzene spill at a Vopak terminal in Houston.

The terminal operator reported the spill on the deck of the 44,400-dwt Maritime Jingan (built 2003) Thursday, leading the US Coast Guard to briefly shutter the Houston Ship Channel.

Coast Guard Petty Officer Dustin Williams told TradeWinds that just 190 litres of the fuel made it into the water, with 1,900 litres spilling onto the deck of the ship.
