A Saudi-owned tanker held captive by pirates off Somalia for over nine months is free after a ransom was paid on Tuesday, TradeWinds understands.
An unspecified amount of cash was air-dropped onboard the 5,136-dwt Al Nisr Al Saudi (built 1993) some time during the day, sources say.
The Saudi-flagged bunkering tanker, which has a Greek master and 13 Sri Lankans onboard, was then allowed to sail after pirates had counted the cash.
