Gulf Navigation (GulfNav) said it has struck a strategic alliance with trader Mena Energy that could see the Dubai shipowner acquire newbuilding tankers that it will charter to the crude and oil products company.
GulfNav said the plans call for orders or acquisition of up to 12 newbuilding tankers ranging in size from 50,000 to 120,000 dwt tankers.
"We are truly proud of this strategic alliance and we are delighted to take another step forward in GulfNav’s strategic business expansion process and to have deepened GulfNav’s existing strong collaboration with Mena Energy which would add value and prove advantageous to both parties," said GulfNav chief executrive Khamis Juma Buamim.
