A Greek tanker and another vessel are believed to have fallen into pirate hands in the Gulf of Aden as a month-long hijacking hiatus came to an abrupt end.

TradeWinds understands that Somali pirates have taken the 6,375-dwt Olib G (built 1988) and another vessel in morning raids in the Internationally Recognised Transit Corridor (IRTC).

Both incidents happened at around 07:00 BST in the middle to eastern part of the transit corridor, an informed source said.

Although neither hijacking has been officially confirmed, people believed to be pirates have been independently spotted onboard both ships.
