A Greek suezmax tanker survived two pirate boarding attempts in the Oman Basin on Friday, TradeWinds has learned.
A German boxship, operated by a Singaporean company which has already had a ship hijacked off Somalia, also reported suspicious pirate activity but was not fired at.
The 149,600-dwt United Star (built 1992) was set upon at 15:10 UTC Friday about 500 miles south-east of the Strait of Hormuz.
