Athens-based Aquila Marine has sold an elderly MR1 product/chemical tanker for recycling in India.
The 35,800-dwt Aquila (built 1999) was beached at the plot of Diamond Industries Ship Breaking at Alang last Friday.
The ship’s beaching effectively spells the end of Aquila Marine’s shipowning activities, at least for now.
