Low-profile Greek company Aerio Shipmanagement has bought another secondhand tanker and plans to continue making acquisitions as it positions itself for a hoped-for turnaround in the market.
The approach is characteristic of the confidence that tanker owners have in their sector's prospects, despite sluggish freight rates that led major companies to losses.
Ship-management sources identify Aerio as the buyer of the 46,000-dwt MR product tanker Grand Ace 2 (built 2006) from South Korea’s Pan Ocean for $9.3m.
