Swedish owner Furetank has clinched a deal to secure at least 3,750 tonnes of liquefied biogas (LBG) each year for its new eco ships.

It said the green fuel is one of the keys to fossil-free shipping, but a lack of supply is a major issue.

The owner has now signed a letter of intent with producer Eskilstuna Biogas that will allow it to develop a new biogas plant producing about 5,000 tonnes of LBG annually.
