Brokers said the 300,000-dwt Sam (built 1996) is reported to have gone to Pakistan on the basis of being delivered under tow.
The sources said the tanker, formerly Zoya 1, has fetched $365 per ldt, or $15.5m.
A lot of mystery has surrounded the tanker and its ownership since 2015, when it reportedly was purchased by Ullib Shipping for $20.5m.
