Privately held Fairfield Chemical Carriers (FCC) has launched its first-ever order for dual-fuel newbuildings, striking for up to six tankers at Japan's Fukuoka Shipbuilding.
Fairfield president Todd Clough told TradeWinds on Thursday that he would not disclose pricing details for the deal for the LNG-fuelled chemical tankers.
But he said the green design for the two 26,300-dwt stainless-steel ships, plus four optional vessels, is likely to become the core of FCC's fleet in coming years.
