Essar Shipping has shot down reports that it has chartered in a VLCC from SK Shipping on a long-term contract.
Essar was said to be paying $31,500 per day for the 314,000-dwt C Passion (built 2013) on a two-year charter.
However, a spokesperson for the Indian shipowner said that the company has not chartered in any tankers.
SK Shipping bought the tanker for $100m as a resale in 2011 as part of an en bloc transaction.
