In the aftermath of scandal allegations that toppled Ecuador’s president, the South American nation has terminated a partnership between the national shipping company and low-key Amazonas Tanker Pool.
The move, effective from November, has opened the door to a new partner for government-controlled shipowner Flota Petrolera Ecuatoriana (Flopec), with tanker market sources hinting as International Seaways-linked Aframax International as the favourite.
