The Netherlands has emerged as the second largest market for US crude oil after Canada, according to new US government statistics.
The European nation imported an average of 38,200 barrels per day (bpd), according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Following the removal of restrictions on US crude oil exports in December 2015, the US exported crude oil to 26 different countries in 2016, versus 10 countries the previous year.
