Shanghai Junzheng Shipping — the largest chemical tanker company in China, has struck a newbuilding deal with state-owned Chongqing Chuandong Shipbuilding Industry for a pair of stainless steel chemical tankers.
According to shipbuilding sources, Shanghai Junzheng has commissioned the Chinese shipyard to build two 11,300-dwt newbuildings to be delivered in 2024.
The newbuilding price of the stainless-steel tanker was not disclosed but brokers think the Chinese owner is paying between $15m and $16m per ship as the vessels will be China flagged and used for domestic trade.
