China’s role as the key driver for increasing global oil demand is fading, with other emerging nations coming to prominence, according to the International Energy Agency.
The world’s largest oil importer was responsible for 70% of the global demand gains in 2023. That figure is expected to fall to about 40% in 2024 and 2025, with India and Brazil playing a greater role, it said.
