Chevron is the top seaborne importer of crude to the US so far this year, fuelling a surge in West Coast imports, according to a research report by shipbroker MJLF.

The first four and a half months of this year have seen the US Gulf region on pace to match its volumes last year, but US West Coast imports have risen to a new peak of 120 million barrels for 2016 through Monday.
