Italian chemical tanker owner Finbeta has new owners.
Chemtank, an Italian-backed investment vehicle controlled by Express Holding, has emerged as the majority shareholder in the Savona-based shipowner.
The deal marks the end of a long-running financial restructuring involving around €70m ($78.2m) of non-performing loans mostly held by Italy’s Banca Carige, said Italian sources.
It also marks a dramatic shift of ownership for Finbeta, which has been in the hands of the Bertani family for 40 years.
