Brokers are reporting a complete lack of longer-term tanker deals as spot rate weakness gives charterers the upper hand.
London-based Braemar said there was a feeling in the market that “charterers are starting to wind up for Christmas”.
“Given January is usually something of a disappointment on spot markets, this is probably the right call,” the company added.
