Reports linking Cardiff Marine or other companies affiliated with Greek owner George Economou to the purchase of an Indian-controlled aframax are incorrect, say sources close to the company.
Market sources said earlier this week that India Steamship’s 105,000-dwt tanker Ratna Shalini (built 2010) was committed on subjects to Cardiff Marine for about $25m.
The Ratna Shalini and three other India Steamship vessels — the 105,000-dwt Ratna Namrata,Ratna Shradha and Ratna Shruti (all built 2008) — were reported in recent months to have been committed to several potential buyers, including Economou, Victor Restis, Geden Lines and Swiss-based Advantage Tankers.
