Evangelos Marinakis has arranged Chinese leasing money to fund four VLCCs currently under construction in South Korea – a first for the major Greek shipowner.
Marinakis’s private shipping outfit Capital Maritime & Trading Corp is currently doing the paperwork to complete the deal with China Merchants Bank (CMB) and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), said Jerry Kalogiratos, a senior Capital group executive, during a Marine Money shipping conference in Athens.
