Global bunker prices hit a record as very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) moved past the post-war spike in March, widening the spread with high sulphur fuel oil (HSFO).
Ship & Bunker’s assessment of VLSFO at 20 main ports hit $1,083.50 per tonne on Monday, up $16 from Friday.
This beat the previous record of $1.040.50 set on 9 March, when the Russian invasion of Ukraine sparked a surge that brought bunker prices above $1,000 per tonne for the first time.
