VLCC owners could be rushing their ships back to the yard for more scrubber installations, BTIG predicted.
The US financial firm said scrubber-fitted VLCCs are earning significantly more than their scrubberless counterparts — averaging $16,000 per day so far in 2022 versus just $2,000 per day — a trend it expects to continue throughout the year.
As it stands, approximately half the global VLCC fleet has scrubbers, BTIG said.
