Reports in January that six VLCCs laden with US crude oil were heading for China turned out to be false news, frustrating hopes of an early end to the trade war between the countries.
“None of these VLCCs went to China,” Peter Sand, Bimco’s chief shipping analyst, said after tracking the vessels for six weeks to see where they actually discharged.
